E. Geraert was Zoology Professor at Ghent University, Belgium; from 1974 untill 1998 he was also Associate Editor of Nematologica (now Nematology) where he was responsible for the articles on morphology and taxonomy; from 1990 untill 2002 he was Director of the Master Course in Nematology at Ghent University. From 1984 onwards he cooperated with Prof. D.J. Raski (University of California, Davis) to study nematodes belonging to the Family Tylenchidae.This resulted in several review papers.
'The Tylenchidae of the world' contains full descriptions of all the nematodes reported from everywhere in the world that were considered to belong to the Tylenchidae. More than 400 species are described. The book is amply illustrated with line drawings and SEM photographs that are based on microscope and sub-microscope observations.
