Excavations in Pessinus: the so-called Acropolis
From Helenistic and Roman cemetery to Byzantine Castle
The presentation of the results of 5 campaigns of archeological excavations (1987-1991) by a team from Ghent University on the so-called acropolis-site in Pessinus (Central Anatolia) is a long-awaited matter. Almost only in its concept, this book carefully brings and analyses the results of the digs on one of the town's classical cemeteries and integrates further available information on the region Asia Minor and its burial culture. Also the cemetery's later destination, in the 6th century AD a Byzantine fortress was erected on the site, is accurately discussed.
